Game developer Studio Vanillaware Ltd. in cooperation with Atlus is going to release a science fiction adventure game called 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim for PlayStation 4 on November 28th. The story takes place during a fictionalized version of the 1980s in the Showa Era. Players will follow the journey of its titular thirteen sentinels, high school students who were dragged from their daily lives into a war beyond their imagination and reveal the truth of the “fate of ruin”. The Gameplay

The protagonists of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim will pilot Sentinels to “Battle” Kaijuus. By defeating them, players will get Experience Points to level up and gain special abilities, Metachips to get new weapons and upgrade Sentinels, and strengthen the functions of the terminal.

Throughout the “Adventure” part, players will interact with all the protagonists. By clicking keywords, players will be able to direct conversations and continue with the story to solve mysteries as well as incidents inside the world of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim.

The game also provides an “Archive” where you can replay scenes, look back on solved mysteries, and a glossary of important terms throughout the game. To open it, players would have to win battles and unlock “memory pieces” of the unseen stories.

The 13 Protagonists

Kurabe Juurou (VA. Shimono Hiro)

One of the first characters to be introduced in 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. He loves science fiction and watches a video tape of monsters and robots every day. One day, he unexpectedly summons a giant robot into his world. He pilots a Second Generation Balanced Type Sentinel.

Yakushiji Megumi (VA. Uchida Maaya)

A girl who came from the future and was forced to stay at Juurou’s house as she has nowhere to go. She’s in love with Juurou and promises to return his memories after he lost it on a fight with Kaijuu. She pilots a Fourth Generation Aerial Support Type Sentinel.

Sekigahara Ei (VA. Namikawa Daisuke)

An amnesiac boy who woke up beside a corpse in some alleyway and relentlessly pursued by unknown men in black clothes. A message from his mysterious past told him to “Escape from this world”. He pilots a First Generation Melee Type Sentinel.

Fuyusaka Iori (VA. Tanezaki Atsumi)

One of the protagonists who showed up on the prologue 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. She’s a happy-go-lucky high school girl who has trouble sleeping because of strange dreams she’s having at night. She’s also in love with Ei. She pilots a Second Generation Balanced Type Sentinel.

Miura Keitaro (VA. Ishikawa Kaito)

A serious patriotic high school boy and one of the protagonists of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. He has a sister who he cares deeply for and wears a hat to conceal a scar on his forehead. Although he lives in 1944, he bears a strikingly similar face to a man who lives in 2187 named Miura. He pilots a Third Generation Ranged type Sentinel.

Minami Natsuno (VA. Sakura Kaoru)

A member of the Sakura High School track team who’s infatuated with occult things and dreams of meeting an alien. She lives with her family right next to Juurou’s house and is close with his grandmother. She pilots a Third Generation Ranged type Sentinel.

Amiguchi Shuu (VA. Suzuki Tatsuhisa)

A rich and athletic boy who is also the playboy of Sakura High School. Despite being the most popular, he views things in his life as boring and dull. Lately, he’s been troubled by mysterious dreams and a girl from a TV who talks to him. He pilots a Fourth Generation Aerial Support Type Sentinel.

Takamiya Yuki (VA. Koshimizu Ami)

A childhood friend of Natsuno and one of the protagonists of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. She’s a delinquent with a strong sense of justice and a caring side for her friends. Her fighting abilities are renowned among her peers inside and outside of school. She pilots a Fourth Generation Aerial Support Type Sentinel.

Hijiyama Takatoshi (VA. Ishii Takayuki)

One the protagonist of 13 Sentinels: of Aegis Rim. An honest and very masculine young man who was teased by his friends because he mistakenly fell in love with a boy who cross-dresses as a girl. He pilots a First Generation Melee Type Sentinel.

Kisaragi Tomi (VA. M.A.O)

A girl who came from the future but was forced to escape to the past because of a Kaijuu attack. Nicknamed Usami, is a persistent girl who at first comes off as sassy and lack self-control but has strong perseverance to overcome adversity. She pilots a Third Generation Ranged type Sentinel.

Ogata Nenji (VA. Seki Tomokazu)

A famous delinquent high school boy who’s famous for his great courage and strength in fights. He wears a ducktail hairstyle and actually old fashioned in personality. He pilots a First Generation Melee Type Sentinel.

Shinonome Ryouko (VA. Hayami Saori)

A sickly girl who has to take medicine regularly to keep her acute headache at bay. After an incident in a battle, her memories seem to be hazed. She pilots a Second Generation Balanced Type Sentinel.

Gouto Renya (VA. Fukuyama Jun)

The leader figure for the protagonists of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. His calm and assertive behavior in piloting Sentinels made people look up to him. He pilots a Fourth Generation Aerial Support Type Sentinel.
