To All of Mankind: A Post-apocalyptic Survival Game with Five Cute Anime Girls
Jinrui no Minasama he or To All of Mankind is a PS4 and Nintendo Switch Survival Adventure Game by Nippon Ichi Software which is responsible for Murder Detective: Jack the Ripper, and is teaming up with Acquire, the studio known for developing Akiba’s Trip. The game is set in what seemed to be a post-apocalyptic Akihabara.
Before everything went down, the 5 girls were originally travelling to Akihabara for sightseeing. But one day, they woke up with the city looking exceptionally different than before, where all kinds of flora have fully covered the supposedly clean city, and the girls found no other living human being but themselves. These are the girl that surviving in the post-apocalyptic Akihabara:
Kyouka Shintou (VA: Mana Satou)
The energetic protagonist whose smile never cease and always wear her emotions on her sleeve. She’s clumsy, but her clumsiness is part of her charm. Kyouka loves both her grandma and Anime, she’d rather read manga than normal books. Sometimes she will show her Otaku side because she is living in Akihabara, which is the heart of everything Anime/Manga. However, from time to time she would speak of a wise, old lady-like wisdom.
Isana Shouni (VA: Yukino Tsubaki)
The pseudo-mother of the odd group and an exceptional cook. Isana is a rather serious-minded person, her seriousness leads to her always worrying about everything, her worrywart nature is often associated as motherly. She worry so much about everything that she is also pondering about the motherly role that was ‘given’ to her and tries her best to break free from it.
Erina Kashi (VA: Nanahira)
Erina is the lethargic-looking girl, at least at a first glance because despite her appearances she is actually both the tsukkomi (Straight Man) and boke (Funny Man). She is an avid gamer, and so when she is dropped into a ruined Akihabara where something like games are not available, her number one worry is not getting her login bonuses for her mobile games.
Kazumi Komatsu (VA: Sana Hoshimori)
Kazumi is on par with Kyouka in terms of being the cheerful and energetic girl. She always honestly say what she thinks and is very carefree going on and about her own life due to her reliance on her instincts. Her distinct personality is that she is not afraid to confront and encourage everyone in a straightforward manner, and she is also an athletic girl who is confident in her own physical strength. Kazumi is the older sister of the group, and is the indicator of the group’s condition.
Yuyuko Oura (VA: Mina Nakazawa)
Yuyuko is a quarter French girl with a distinctive cat-like fluffy hair. She is always hungry for more knowledge, hence her love for books. Thanks to that she has a good sense of judgement and is often considered as the walking dictionary, allowing the group to take advantage of her vast amount of knowledge to save them from any kind of situation.
She always use honorifics for everyone in the group and keeping them an arm’s away, a sign of her shy personality. Despite that, she will try to blend with her peers and occasionally let her true nature be known to the group. She might be a very rational type of girl, but she is always genuine whenever she is conveying her emotions.
In To All of Mankind, players can explore ‘the sacred land of otaku’ that is Akihabara. In the ruined city, there exist the hotel where the girls are living at, and other exploration spots like the abandoned shops where players can get new tools and thus unlocks new things to do. Some items that the player get might need to be combined in order to advance in some other place or time.
Besides exploring the city, players can also do some farming in a field and fishing in Kanda river in order to collect some ingredients for sustenance. Stocking up for ingredients and making a decent meal is important because the girls’ performance when exploring the city is dependant on their sustenance and energy level.
Not only that, since there are 5 girls with different personalities, it is necessary for the player to check their profile through the status screen and pick the correct girl for certain activities to make sure that they will cooperate and can have fun.
To top it all off, players can revel in the story of five peculiar girls trying to enjoy their lives despite living within a ruined Akihabara, said story is in a similar format to that of a Visual Novel. With all these in mind, this game would surely become very unique and interesting. To All of Mankind will be released on both PS4 and Nintendo Switch on May 30th this year with just 6.980 JPY for both digital and physical version.
