Release Date Announced!
Bandai Namco has announced the release date for Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris. The newest SAO game adaptation will launch in Japan on May 21, 2020, on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. SAO Lycoris will release worldwide the day after on May 22, 2020.
In Japan, SAO Lycoris will release with 3 editions. The standard edition will cost 7,600 JPY on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the first-print limited edition will only be available on PlayStation with a price tag on 10,900 JPY, and the digital-only Deluxe edition will cost 11,800 JPY. Early purchases will get a download code for the four costumes that won the Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris costume design contest held previously.
The first-print limited edition of SAO Lycoris includes a limited edition box with a special illustration, special contents Blu-ray disc, OST CD, original drama CD, special case containing the CDs and Blu-ray disc, drama CD script, limited edition packaging, and special booklet (Dengeki NerveGear Vol. 6).
The digital-only Deluxe edition for SAO Lycoris includes the four costumes that won the costume design contest previous held, Beater’s Player rights (early access to the game, just like in the anime. You got a beta pass), two large-scale downloadable contents upon release (included with the Premier Pass), and one Premier Pass bonus costume.
The PlayStation 4 version for SAO Lycoris also includes the digital soundtrack, PlayStation Network Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris avatar set, PlayStation 4 dynamic theme, and PlayStation Network avatar icon for Alice.
SAO Lycoris will also feature a new original character not shown before on the anime or light novel. The story of SAO Lycoris will split after the anime and starts a new storyline with Medina Orthinanos.
