New Races, Classes and Quests in Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers
Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers is a massive expansion for one of the biggest MMORPGs which has been live since July 2nd, and there’s plenty of new things to check out, like a couple of new races with the Viera and Hrothgar, and two new jobs with Gunbreaker and Dancer.
There’s a lot to cover from this expansion, here are some of the main features to get you started on your Shadowbringers adventure:
Hrothgar and Viera races
The Hrothgar and Viera races are immediately available when creating new characters or using a Fantasia to edit your character’s appearance. You can also select the two new races as your Retainers.
Gunbreaker and Dancer jobs
Both Gunbreaker and Dancer jobs available for players at level 60 and above. Those of you looking to try out the new Gunbreaker job can start with “The Makings of a Gunbreaker” quest from God’s Quiver bow at New Gridania (X:11.5 Y:11.9).
Gunbreaker (Tank)
For aspiring Dancers, head to Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (X:9.8 Y:12.0) and talk to Eager Lominsan to start the quest “Shall We Dance.”
Dancer (DPS)
Role Quests
In the Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers expansion, in addition to the regular Job Quests there are new “Role Quests” for each Disciple of War or Magic. The required level ranges from 70 to 80, and players will be required to complete at least one series of Role Quests in order to complete Main Scenario of Shadowbringers.
After reaching a certain point in Main Scenario, you can start your first Role Quest at the following: Tank (Paladin/Warrior/Dark Knight/Gunbreaker), Physical DPS (Monk/Dragoon/Ninja/Samurai/Bard/Machinist/Dancer), Magical DPS (Black Mage/Summoner/Red Mage), Healer (White Mage/Scholar/Astrologian).
An additional Quest unlocks upon completing Main Scenario and all four Role Quest series (Can you guest who?..)
New Main Scenario Quests
If you’re looking to dive right into the new story content, hit up Tataru at The Rising Stones to get things started. The quest is called “The Syrcus Trench” and you need to be on a Disciple of War or Magic at level 70 to start. Do keep in mind that you need to have completed the last Main Scenario Quest “A Requiem for Heroes” that concluded Patch 4.56 (Part 2).
You might also notice that the manner in which the dialogue selections are displayed has been changed.
