"KINGDOM HEARTS Unchained χ" available now on iTunes Japan!
Hey guys, Nick here bringing you unique Japanese iTunes game reviews for your enjoyment. Today I'm bringing you the newly released KINGDOM HEARTS Unchained χ by Square Enix that is available exclusively on the Japan Apple iTunes App Store. Originally, I had written an anticipated preview piece on this title and now that it is out, I've finally been able to give the game a try! I think you guys are going to really love this, especially if you are a huge Kingdom Hearts fan. Let's check it out!
The game is not much of the epic story you remember from the older versions of Kingdom hearts, but more of an instanced battle dungeon crawler with a bit of fashion and customization. All of the characters have been revamped into a chibi, or cuter and smaller versions of themselves and you, in fact, are the main star of this story. You are able to create a basic avatar from the selection given at the beginning of the game, and create your name. This is your primary character who will be slashing enemies with your magic Keyblade! More customization is available as the story progresses, so do not fret too much if you haven't found that perfect hairstyle straight away!
A very cool feature of the game is that you will collect badges of many many different characters. Think of these as collectible character cards. What you will do is socket these characters, of your choice into your fancy keyblade. From there you have the option of leveling them up with other character badges to make their attacks even more explosive. While in the battle field you will see these badges in the left hand corner of your UI, which you will use for more enhanced attacks that are not your typical hacking and slashing. You want to use these wisely because they do cost battle points and they will run out in time.
Overall, the battle content is super easy and fun! As you progress through the levels you will pick up materials that will further enhance your keyblade as a whole to make it stronger. You will also receive special avatar clothing coins that will allow you to pick up more outfits, hairstyles and other fun things to make you more unique. I don't want to hint too much but expect to get a Cheshire cat kigurumi outfit at one point (it's super cute!). Another breathtaking part of the KH games that we may all remember are the vivid Disney and Square Enix worlds which you explore, and that also exists in this new game. Each world gives it's own special feel to the stories you know and love. For those of you who aren't familiar with the Kingdom Heart franchise, expect to travel through both Disney and Square Enix worlds while also playing with memorable characters and villains. There is also a multi player option of the game where you can party-up with other players, which seems exciting but I have yet to dabble in it yet. Please let me know in the comment section if you've tried the online option, I'd love to hear your feedback!
Above, I've included a promotional video from when they first announced the game to give you a better idea of how the game plays. In the end, I am loving this game so much and will continue to play. If you happen to end up playing as well, look for me, my character name is "nickymon". For those of you who haven't had the chance yet to set up your own Japanese Apple ID we've set up a quick guide for you so that you can enjoy this game among others on the Japanese iTunes Store.
