Hey guys, Nick here bringing you more Japanese iOS game reviews! Today, I tried the game "SHOW BY ROCK!", published by geechs inc. and developed by Sanrio. You wouldn't expect this to be Sanrio from the art, but it still has a somewhat cutesy vibe! This is a very adorable rhythm-based game that I think you guys may very well enjoy! If you are into dance battle-type games this is the game for you, let's check it out!

The game starts off with a pretty cool world map to begin your adventures. Your first stop, "Shibu City", which is reminiscent of Shibuya, the mega district in Tokyo. When you are settled into town, you will have the option to select a musical challenge to begin. The game is pretty neat because not only are you doing a rhythm tapping game, but you are actually battling foes with your hits. The more accurate your score the more enemies will fall, and faster! I was able to take down several tyrannical bosses that reminded me of Godzilla, while tapping along to the fun songs. 

Another thing to note about the songs is that they are all really great J-POP songs that you may well know! I was extremely excited about the quality of music while playing! I know there are some Japanese music fans reading, so be sure to check out the game if you like listening to exciting Japanese lyrics and beats! Tapping the keys when the notes roll over them is the main approach to the music battles but you will also notice that you'll have to hold in certain notes, and also get "perfects" on attacks from the enemy, as if you are blocking! SHOW BY ROCK! is available free to download and play on the Japanese Apple iTunes Store, though it does offer in-app purchase to help you along your musical adventure.
