Today, I am bringing you one of the top grossing hits from the Japan iTunes Store, known as, 三国志パズル大戦 (Sangoshi Pazuru Taisen), or Three Kingdoms Puzzle Wars. I was able to pick up this game the other day and give it a try. I was pretty impressed by how simple it is, being a native English speaker. I do know Japanese, but this was not too demanding in terms of language competency, and fun enough that everyone can enjoy! With the most recent holiday update for the game, it should leave you very satisfied with awesome rewards and in-game purchases to get your puzzle-battle and Christmas-fun-fix!
This game is in the very popular genre of "Puzzle-Battle" where you make various combinations on your puzzle board to activate actions and attacks for the player that you are using. Swipe gestures on the game board will make the desired combos to ascend through the game's fights and levels.
The cool thing about this game is that it doesn't really involve complex or sluggish arena movement that you often see in JRPGS. I like to think of these Puzzle-Fighter games as the most straightforward type of JRPG. All the elements of various team members with different battle jobs for the party exist, along with various enemies and thrilling battles that you will encounter. Please take a look at the video below to get an idea of how the simplistic, yet fun the gameplay can be!
The good news about this game is that is actually free for download on the Japan iTunes Store. However, in order to create an account, if you are not from Japan you need a Japan iTunes Gift Card to activate a Japanese Apple ID (more info on account creation, here). Luckily, after you are done purchasing your first Japan iTunes Gift Card, Three Kingdoms Puzzle Wars offers a bunch of cool in-game purchases to keep your in-game battles coming along strong! Any Japanese iTunes Gift Card can be quickly and easily purchased at JapanCodeSupply.
