Hello all, Nick here bringing you the most recent gaming news from Japan. After over a decade of success that Final Fantasy XI, the first MMORPG developed by Square Enix, they have announced that the popular title will be coming to mobile devices in the next year, subsequently following the shut down of their PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360 servers. PC players do not need to worry because the service will remain for the non-console version.

Square Enix has partnered with Nexon, a Korean MMO publishing and developing company to create this mobile version of the game. The game will still be massively multiplayer and it seems that the only real change will be UI elements and the overhaul and simplification of the graphics. Check out the video above. Nexon claims that the mobile version of the game will offer improved party organization, battle and other unique features that will allow it to play seamlessly on a mobile device, such as smartphones.

The Second Title that they have announced for the mobile platforms is Final Fantasy Grandmasters, which at this time may be exclusively just for the Japan market. This new game is also set in the same world as Final Fantasy XI, Vana'diel. Players will be able to customize characters and enjoy a similar game as the original XI experience, except with a very different story. Final Fantasy Grandmasters is said to embark on their beta test this April. JapanCodeSupply will be sure to update you with more information when they get it!
